Multiple extractions and Immediate placement of implants with a temporary prosthetic bridge in the anterior mandible

A patient suffers from severe periodontal disease which causes severe bone loss resulting in some of her teeth in the anterior region of the lower jaw (mandible) to become mobile or loose.

It’s noticeable that the teeth are beginning to flare out and is highly undesirable for the patient.

The four anterior teeth are extracted atraumatically and the tooth sockets are thoroughly cleaned. A minimally invasive flapless implant surgery will be conducted for this patient.

Parallel pins are used to verify the desired positioning, angulation, and depth after the implant spaces are created freehandedly.

As the implant spaces are being developed even further, the parallel pins are also continued to be used to verify the preferred outcome.

After the implants are placed, direction indicators are connected to them to further verify the final postioning, angulation, and depth of the implants.

Finally, implant abutments are connected to the implants and are used as the “support beams” for the temporary prosthetic bridge that will be created immediately after.

A temporary prosthetic bridge is fabricated chairside and is seated onto the implant abutments. After an adequate amount of time for healing has occurred, the patient will be ready to begin the process of fabricating her final or definitive implant prosthesis.
