Immediate Implant Placement in the Anterior Esthetic Zone
A tooth has been causing problems for a patient, so she decided to have it removed.
The tooth is extracted and a dental implant is planned to be put in its place.
The extracted tooth is modified chairside and converted to a provisional (temporary) crown which will later be connected to the implant.
The dental implant is immediately placed freehandedly after the tooth extraction. A hex driver tool is placed onto the implant’s cover screw to indicate the implant’s position and angulation within the ridge.
The frontal view clarifies the ridge length or horizontal spacing to each of the adjacent teeth from the center of the implant, as demonstrated with the aid of the hex driver tool.
The top view shows the position of the implant relative to the ridge width, illustrating the anterior-posterior (forward-to-back) dimension, as demonstrated with the aid of the hex driver tool.
The final steps for the fabrication of the provisional (temporary) crown is completed.
The provisional (temporary) crown is then connected to the implant and secured in place by tightening a prosthetic screw within by using the hex driver tool. A desired amount of time is allowed to occur before initiating the final steps for the fabrication of the final implant crown.
As shown above, the provisional (temporary) crown is being worn but proper care is essential in order to achieve overall success. Moreover, all contact areas are intentionally removed to prevent any potential micromovements to the dental implants during its healing period.
